ABOUT Julie Johnson

Hello and welcome! I have over 25 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings.  My specialties include working with adults on the autism spectrum and those with cognitive or physical challenges. I also work closely with caregivers affected by their support of these individuals.

I have an extensive background in working with trauma, personality disorders, addiction, and chronic pain. I consider therapy to be a sacred space in which we can learn how to trust and love ourselves, which naturally leads to improved relationships.  It takes a lot of courage to examine our lives in an honest way.  I respect anyone willing to do the work!  Therapy can feel vulnerable so it is important you feel safe in the process.  My focus is to make sure you feel heard and understood.  I like to share some humor in the sessions as well.  It is good not to take ourselves and life too seriously.

My style of therapy is relaxed and conversational but always purposeful. As I listen to your unique story, I will guide you to identify goals based on your most important values. I teach skills using your personal situations, making them applicable. I come from a background of working at Christian-based clinics. It is natural for me to integrate therapy and faith when this is requested.

I have worked with a diverse group of people and issues. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches that are specific to meet your needs. I find a balance of processing, teaching, and skill development to be highly effective. I specifically enjoy using personality tools, such as the Enneagram, to promote self-awareness. I am also a fan of making goals measurable so you can recognize progress and be encouraged.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, biking, hiking, hot yoga, reading, and always chasing the next good laugh.
