ABOUT Eric Riesterer

Eric Riesterer, M.A., LPCC, is a licensed professional clinical counselor who genuinely loves this work. He sees clients in Northeast Ohio and across Minnesota via secure telehealth (Doxy.me), and is especially comfortable working with veterans and with people whose brains just work a little differently than what gets called "typical" — ADHD, Level 1 autism, or anything in between. However that shows up for you, you won't have to explain or justify it with Eric.

Eric's style is direct and practical. You set the agenda for what is most pressing that week, with room for deeper trauma and meaning-focused work when you are ready. He draws on clinical training, six years in the U.S. Army Reserve, and work as a track & field coach at Hathaway Brown High School for Girls in Cleveland, OH.

Eric also brings hands-on experience, supporting autism evaluations alongside diagnostic professionals, providing outpatient counseling for teens and adults working through executive functioning, dating and relationship concerns, school and work challenges, and social skills practice. He understands what masking costs autistic clients day after day and helps them find a more sustainable balance—spending that energy where it counts and protecting it everywhere else.

Who he works with

  • Children, teens, adults, and families through life transitions

  • Autistic and ADHD clients (Level 1 / mild–moderate), including social stress, executive functioning, and burnout

  • Veterans and others healing from PTSD, C-PTSD, and adjustment stress

  • Athletes seeking sports counseling for performance anxiety, confidence, identity in sport, and mental-health balance

How he works: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), DBT, the 4F trauma model (fight, flight, freeze, fawn), REBT, mindfulness-based CBT, online/gamified play therapy for younger clients, and faith-integrated or purpose-focused counseling when that fits.

Also available: school and test-stress support, men's and boys' issues, mid-life crisis counseling, substance-use maintenance, screen/gaming stress, and values or career meaning work.

Eric is an LPCC, not a sport psychologist. Sports work is clinical counseling for athletes, offered alongside his broader psychotherapy practice.
