ABOUT Bruce Beaman
We are in a relationship with everyone, and everything we encounter in our lives, and the functioning of these relationships forms the foundation of our health and well-being.
One of the most important of these relationships is the one we have with ourselves. Our history of interactions and experiences, the meaning we assign to them, and the values and beliefs we develop help to determine our view of the world around us…and ourselves. During this process, how we think, feel, and see ourselves helps to direct our behavior as we make choices to meet our needs, real or perceived. This is a lifelong process of continuous change and is, in the moment, purposeful.
Occasionally, whether we are single or in partnered relationships, outcomes do not meet our wants and needs, we feel “stuck,” repeatedly experiencing any number of unpleasant thoughts and emotions, and we benefit from assistance in redirecting our lives.
Therapy is a process of discovery, and often re-discovery, of what helps us to be our best selves and our relationship with ourselves and others more meaningful and fulfilling.
Everyone is able to realize the ongoing nature of a more satisfying, fulfilling, and enriched life, and it is my purpose to assist you in this achievement.
My training is in systems theory, and therefore relationship-based and collaborative. I enjoy working with adults and couples on several topics, such as improving communication and relationship dynamics, conflict resolution, anxiety, depression, emotion management, self-esteem, self-worth, attachment and co-dependency, chemical dependency, family of origin experiences, and spirituality and existential concerns.
